VANA was founded by Vi Ho, RN, PhD, FNP and Tri (aka Michael) D. Pham, RN, PhD, ANP/AOCNP, and a number of Vietnamese-American nurses in the summer of 2007 after many years of brainstorming, networking, and a desire to create a professional organization for Vietnamese-American nurses.

Mission

VANA mission is uniting Vietnamese-American nurses in Houston, Texas, and the United States of America and promoting the health of Vietnamese communities as well as of others around the nation through community outreach, research, education, and disease prevention. VANA also serves as a forum for Vietnamese-American nurses to exchange ideas, to voice concerns, to offer recommendations, etc., in order to build a stronger and healthier organization.

Vision

VANA is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) professional organization whose members comprise of nurses from many specialties, settings, and areas of practice, research, and education around the country. Members of VANA will be the leaders in patient care, research, education and prevention in their respective communities.

A Message From VANA President

Dear fellow VANA members,
How often do you help friends, families, or even strangers? Every day!
How often do you make a difference in the lives of your patients and/or their families?
Almost every day!
How often do you better our community? All the times!
How often are you acknowledged, recognized, or appreciated for helping people? More often
than not!
How often are you honored by the Mayor of Houston for making a difference in the lives of
other people or for bettering your community? Once in a blue moon!
That’s once in a blue moon is here! In fact, it is just around the corner!
Yes, you have heard it right! The Mayor of Houston, Annise Parker, will honored each and
every of you for being a very important part of VANA, for helping our Vietnamese community,
for bettering Houston, and for making a difference at Houston City Hall (located at 900
Bagby, Houston, Texas, 77002) on June 23, 2015, at 1 PM.
Up to 120 people could attend this Proclamation Ceremony. Therefore, please bring your
friends, relatives, loved ones, etc., to the ceremony to show our strength, our commitment,
our dedication, our hard work bettering the City of Houston for almost a decade now. Please
mark your calendar now and arrange your schedule for this very important day!
You can park at Hobby Performance Theater, or cheaper at meters along road, or at the public
park right behind 901 Bagby, Houston, Texas, 77002. This public park charges only $1.00 per
hour and it is located at the corner of Walker, west side of 901 Bagby, Houston, Texas,
77002. To help you save time and money, carpooling might be a good option to consider.
We sincerely hope that each and every members and supporters will take a little bit of time
out of your busy schedule to attend this once-in-a-lifetime occasion. If you are planning on
